Social Media is nothing new and if you are reading this post, you are already participating in social media. Book Review - Socialnomics: How Social Media Transforms the Way We Live and Do Business

Brand names can now be strengthened or destroyed by the use of social media. It is more evident today if we just pay close attention to the way big companies are focusing on social media platforms. Advertising is less effective at influencing consumers than are the opinions of their peers, making direct-to-consumer marketing messages less valuable each day.

The author of Socialnomics, Erik Qualman, has done a  tremendous amount of research and shares some thought-provoking statistics that proves the point. Here is a quick video to demonstrate what you may learn:

After reading the book, when I researched, I found that that Socialnomics was a finalist for the "2010 Book of the Year", awarded by the American Marketing Association. If you are an entrepreneur, a marketing professional or aspiring to be one, this is a must read book for you.  I highly recommend it!
