Google’s Gemini File Search API: The RAG Revolution You Need to Know About

Before Google’s launch of Gemini File Search API, building a RAG based application has been a bit of a puzzle for some while hard nut to crack for many others. If you are like me, you know that dealing with RAG has been one of those things that you realize you’ve been doing something the hard way for way too long and yet you couldn’t do anything about it, right?

Gemini File Search API-RAG-System-Hero-Image

Last week I discovered Google’s new Gemini File Search API and it was such a relief to learn about it knowing that for months, I’d been watching developers struggle with building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems. The process has been complicated, expensive, and honestly, a bit of a nightmare.

Vector databases to set up. Chunking strategies to figure out. Embedding pipelines to maintain. Infrastructure costs piling up. And that’s before you even get to the actual AI part.

How I Migrated AWS Server and WordPress Sites from Plesk to CyberPanel — With AI as My Server Admin

Server-Migration-From-Plesk-To-CyperPanel-Helped-By-AI-Featured-Image

Those who know my hosting business, know that I have been hosting several websites (WordPress and others) on AWS Server for many years and one my favorite ways to manage  Wordpress websites on my AWS servers has been using Plesk, for one reason, a comprehensive and easy to use GUI based control panel solution.

But as it occurred to me that the cost of hosting and yearly pricing of Plesk itself has been going up over the years, I needed to find a better way to cost-effectively manage my websites.

Now, I am not a Unix/Linux expert and have not managed servers. And hiring server admins will simply cost me way more than Plesk (especially since they have good support to deal with any server issues that need human intervention). So, I decided to check with Cloude.ai about my confusion and just explore if this was an idea worth exploring.
