How To Have An Inspiring Online Experience Every Day

Kumar Gauraw

The challenge of having a productive and inspiring online experience is a big one. Especially, when your computer is connected to the internet,  it seems distractions are just waiting to happen.

Setup Inspiring Browser Home Page For Inspiring Online Experience

Disconnecting the internet, checking emails only once a day etc. are not the things some of us can accept as a good solution. In fact, to me and to many entrepreneurs with online businesses, such recommendations are counterproductive.

I have been doing a lot of trial and error to find a better solution.  The main challenge has always been:

  1. How do I start my online experience on a positive note?
  2. How can I turn my time on the internet into subconscious motivation?
  3. How do I ensure that my online time is used wisely?

What Begins Well, Ends Well

Thanks to an awesome personal development coach, Sid Savara who recommended this method on his website. I picked up the idea from him, tried it for a while and I must tell you, it worked like magic!

This technique works on the principle of programming our subconscious mind using the methods of positive affirmations and the power of visualization. No wonder it works!

To begin with, I had to realize that my online experience begins each day me firing up my Firefox web browser each morning. When it starts, what do we generally look at first? Here are a few examples of the start pages for some of us:

  1. News Websites
  2. Facebook
  3. Twitter
  4. Email Accounts
  5. A tabbed view of previously browsed websites

Most of these start pages are actually threats to a positive mental attitude to begin with. For example, news and emails can easily spoil our mornings and usually they do.

The goal is to begin the day in a way that I can feel empowered. I deserve to feel charged up so that I can go out and make the most out of this day. So, I created my own start pages for my browsers.

Now, as soon as I start my web browser, my home page is a custom page with a few things that will help me live the day positively.

My Browser Start Pages (Home Pages) For An Inspiring Online Experience

I created many versions and based on what is going to be my focus for the next day or the next week, I choose one of these pages and make them the start page for my browsers.

I think this is a powerful way to program our minds to focus on the things that are important. I even use this technique to avoid online distractions and it works!

Initially, I did not think I was going to make it available on my website and therefore, it was just stored on my local machine. However, now that I’ve decided to share these with you, I am working to make it available for public use.

This list is going to grow in time, so I encourage you to bookmark this page if these start pages are of interest to you. I will keep adding new start pages here as I get them ready for you.

So, here you go (These links will open these pages in a new window when you click):

  1. Start Page for the Attitude of Gratitude

  2. Start Page for Focus and Perseverance

  3. Start Page for Daily Love And Compassion

  4. Start Page for Daily Reminder On Value Of Time

These are simple pages with a Google Search box included to help search the web  without a need to start another window.   I enjoy watching these pages, reading them over and over and I hope you will love them too.

If you like these pages, you also can configure them to be the start page for your online experience.

  12. Tim

I like the idea of the home page with a message to get you going for the day.

    • Thank you Tim! Yeah, this is what I do. At least I start with a positive note before checking emails and social media for all that is going on 🙂

  13. Hello Kumar,

Your idea of unique start pages is a great one…believe me, I’ve started many a day on a bad note due to the pages I had the misfortune of visiting first. A recent case was when the first news item I read was the report that over 200 persons had perished in a bomb blast in my country’s capital – and, I had used that very bus terminus some days back: can you imagine my thoughts?

I’d take your suggestions to the implemention level – and I must sincerly thank you for sharing this.

    Always,
    Terungwa

    • Hi Akaahan,

Hearing that kind of news us so unnerving. I have gone through similar situations many many times and honestly, we can’t avoid those things because a news item like that doesn’t wait for you to come online. Someone will call you and tell you to get you updated 🙁

Well, but for the natural days where we don’t have a new like that to deal with, a start page in browser is a great thing to have as it stimulates a positive environment within our own brain!

Thank you for dropping by and welcome 🙂

      Regards,
      Kumar

  14. Great ideas, though usually 50% of things on internet happen exactly the opposite to the plan. However with good organization, motivation and attitude, everything is possible.

  15. Hi Kumar,

“Check the emails once a day,” they say. Yeah, sure. I love this piece of advice. Customers can wait, can’t they? [The sarcasm ended here.]

My start page is my Gmail account page. And I don’t plan to change it. That’s where my inspiration, gratitude, whatever, come from. Guess why… That’s where the PayPal payment notifications land 🙂 That’s where my customers’ messages, feedback, etc, await for me. That’s where I get my fuel from 🙂

    • LOL Adrion! “Expect the unexpected” 🙂

Well, why not set your homepage to Paypal then? At least you will only see that and not a bunch of junk emails 🙂

Yeah, I am not a big fan of the idea of shutting down your email and becoming that sage marketer for whom the world awaits. No! I check my emails several times a day and I don’t like to see “unread” emails cluttering my mailbox.

But then, I get my positive juices flowing as much as possible in the morning hours. That’s it. Rest of the day is to MAKE IT HAPPEN 🙂

      Cheers!
      Kumar

      • 1) “why not set your homepage to Paypal then?” – Because PP doesn’t (and cannot) show the payment notifications received from ClickBank or other pieces of information such as customers’ feedback, new subscribers, new orders, etc. Gmail does it… That’s where I collect all the goodies 🙂

        2) “At least you will only see that and not a bunch of junk emails” – the amount of junk emails I receive is insignificant 😉

  16. Lenie

    Hi Kumar
What a wonderful way to start the day and I really appreciate the instructions for how to set up the pages. I’m setting mine up on Firefox.
    Lenie

    • Thank you Lenie! Good luck to you and let me know if you face any problems in setting up.

  18. Good Morning Kumar! I also believe it is very important to start our day off on the right foot. Sometime we just need a reminder HUH? Thank you so much for the wonderful quotes and the Amazing Video. Grateful Indeed. Chery :))

    • Hi Chery,

Glad to hear from you! When are you coming to Dallas next time? 🙂

Glad that you enjoyed the video. Isn’t it such an important thing especially when we have to go trough so many things everyday dealing with people all day long?

A positive energy goes a long way, right?

      Have a great day!

      Regards,
      Kumar

  19. Hi Kumar,

That was a lovely page indeed 🙂

However, for me, because of the shortage of time – I just have a clean browser when I open Chrome that keeps me away from any kind of distraction. It just has my Gmail account, which I check within a few minutes and close it up and start work.

I think if you are able to cover up most of your writing stuff in the early hours of the day, you can get a lot done and I honestly prefer doing that because I need to look after the household chores, besides other online projects, blog, and the never ending comments! I am just grateful at the end of the day that I am able to do what I aimed for at the start of the day 🙂

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

    • Awesome Harleena!

Yeah, a clean start is a great start!

It’s just that I need a jump start 🙂 I need someone to tell me how important I am, how important my time in this earth is, how much blessings I am having today and, since nobody else is willing to do the job, I created my own system to do so.

I see these videos, read those words and get FIRED UP to take on the day at hand 🙂

Have a successful week! I know how busy your day could be.

      Regards,
      Kumar

  20. Always great to start the day with an inspirational message!
Nice touch with adding the instructions in the various browsers for people who do not know how to customize them.

    • Thank you Sandy. Appreciate the appreciation.

      Regards,
      Kumar

  21. You’ve got me really thinking on this Kumar
I’ll have to come back here, read this and pick a strategy

    Thanks for the inspiration 😉

  22. Great idea Kumar. I can see the benefit of starting my internet experience with something that will set the tone for my entire online experience. Also, I feel images can really affect our disposition and online experience. I will put your suggestions to use immediately.

    • Thank you for sharing your appreciation Edward. Glad you enjoyed the idea!

  23. Hi Kumar,

This topic is right up my alley, and I totally agree with you.

Not to look down on anyone, but most people who are not into personal development don’t realize that they are doing things first thing in the morning that are not up-building for them – watching the news – is one of those things, since news are rarely ever positive.

I’m glad you mentioned Facebook, because I’ve also noticed that some people are in the habit of posting negative and downright depressing pictures, and comments. I understand that they want to bring awareness to some issues, but they are also spreading the bad vibrations with them.

It’s very important to start the day with positive affirmations and other things that will bring your energy and vibrations levels up and help you attract wonderful things into your life.

Great topic, and have a wonderful day!

    • Hi Sylviane,

I knew you would love this topic 🙂 You have written on topics around this topic many many times and this certainly falls within your niche!

Well, Facebook is a home for a lot of people online and when there are so many people there, negative is obvious being automatic anyway.

So, it becomes our responsibility to guard our brain and provide the nutrition it needs for optimal performance.

This is one way I try to inject some positive energy in my mind as the day begins or, as many times as my browser needs to restart 🙂

      Regards,
      Kumar

  24. Fantastic post!! Ticks all the boxes, and I am going to change my homepage right now. You are completely right that all these usual suspects can have a negative impact on the start of our day. So let’s start as we mean to go on. Thanks so much for explaining how to set pages for all the different systems. I use Safari which is often omitted. Thanks for a great post:-))

    • Oops! Yeah, I missed Safari as well. I will edit this post soon and as Safari in my instruction set as well. Thank you for letting me know of your preference!

      Regards,
      Kumar

  25. Dear Kumar,
This article is an excellent one.You made the right decision of creating your own blogs online inspiring Experience!!!!I loved the way you saw things. I totally agree with you that the greatest secret of success in all ventures is in Love. Not because you mentioned Ghandi but he also said that this is life when he said that where there is love there is life. Truly, above all Proverbs 17:17 says that a friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
    Keep Equipping nations, Mr Kumar,
    Charmant

    • Awesome Charmant! I am glad to know you enjoyed the article and also thanks for taking time to engage!

Your feedback is what matters the most and allows me to create quality posts!

      Regards,
      Kumar

  26. Hi Kumar,

You said it right. When the computer is connected to the internet, distractions are all set to jump in and eat into our productive time. If not treated with some care, this may end up seriously reducing our productivity!

Making a good start will ensure that the day will be a productive one. Like you said, the starting place should make one feel empowered!

The start pages you’ve provided are very helpful. They are simple, but have lots of inspiring stuff in store! Starting a day viewing one such page will sure boost morale, give us some purpose and help make the day more productive!

Thanks for putting up those pages Kumar. I appreciate the work and effort you put towards making them. 🙂

    Arun

    • You are very welcome Arun!

Glad to know you found then inspiring too! I keep
Changing them every few month on my laptop. When I need some gratitude , when I need some extra perseverance, when I need some extra time management etc. creates the need for one or the other start page and I have them all when I need them 🙂

Thanks for dropping by and sharing those kind words!

      Regards,
      Kumar

  27. Hi Kumar Gauraw,

You had posted fantastic article. Always great to start the day with an inspirational message.
    Thanks for posting this article.

  28. I like the content, hope to get similar effective info regularly from you Mr.Kumar.

  29. Kumar, it is certainly inspiring that you see so many dimensions to the online experience. As you are a professional in the field it seems particularly important to operate in a holistic manner. Great post as always.

    • Thank you Paul! Appreciate your kind words of appreciation 🙂

      Have a successful new week!

  30. Hi Kumar,

Wow..another great post asking your readers what they would like to do. I like the “Attitude of Gratitude” because that is how I usually start my day BEFORE I open up my computer. Before I get out of bed I think of things I am grateful for. I’ve been doing this for about two years now and it surely starts my day positive.

So, when I do open my computer, I would like to see something I could be grateful for. There are so many things in our life that we take for granted. Turning our mindset to gratefulness to me, is the best way to start the day.

Never ever turn on the news first! Yikes! It’s always a negative. It does play on the subconscious. But if we start our day with something inspiring, our subconscious minds can be effected in a positive way!

    -Donna

    • Hi Donna,

Not watching news first thing in morning is the best thing that you do. I don’t remember last time when I read news. I don’t watch news in TV and don’t look for it online. I believe that if there is a news important enough, someone will tell me. I don’t need to waste my time digging for it unnecessarily 🙂

I am glad you enjoyed this idea as well. Thank you!

      Regards,
      Kumar

  31. What a great idea to customize inspirational home pages to start your day off on the right foot. I started adding inspirational quotes to my photos to spread to positivity (Positively Wednesday). I also provide them in a downloadable/printable notecard format for free so people can brighten another person’s day 🙂

    • That is a great idea Christina! Thank you for adding value to community through your creative work!

  32. Hello Sir,
This is was a very valuable information. The link landed me to an awesome page on same site url.It was amazing.

    Have a great day 🙂

  33. Hey Kumar,

I do have to say this is a great idea! Sometimes right before I go to work, I just feel very out of tune and have a grudge about going to work LOL.. What’s worse is when my coworkers feel the same. I believe this strategy will start my day as well as others on a way better note. I’m going to look into the Attitude of Gratitude because i don’t give enough gratitude in the morning and throughout the rest of the day! Thanks for sharing!

    • That is an excellent idea Sherman! Gratitude is the biggest of all powers and as we speak, this is the start page I am using these days 🙂

Let me know how it goes after you use this technique for a week or so!

      Regards,
      Kumar

  34. Love that you are brave enough to acknowledge what everyone knows but never says, shutting off our computers and phones is NOT an option. Love the idea of starting up with a daily affirmation. Had a desk calendar for years that did that. Don’t know why taking it to the next level never occurred to me. Thanks.

  35. I have just changed my home page. I never really thought about how going online can spoil my day. Very good post Kumar. I will now be starting my online experience with inspiration.

  36. Now that’s a blog post Kumar! I’m a firm believer in Facebook after the blogging though, it’s always fun but sucks your creativity away into other people’s lives.

  37. Hey Kumar,

Now I really enjoyed this post and what you’ve learned and are helping others for a better way they can start their day. I was surprised to read though that even by you reading your email that starts your day off not so good.

So how do I start my day? After everything is done of course I take my dog out to do her business and I go through my list of things I’m grateful for so that’s how I start every single morning before I even get on the computer. My frame of mind is raring to go and I’m a happy happy lady.

When I sit down at my desk the first thing I do is I read my daily inspirational verses and I have two books that I get those from. I also write down my affirmations on my notepad before I turn my monitor on.

Then once that monitor is on the first thing I open is my business email account and trust me, it’s ALL positive. Then I go to my blog and start there and of course that’s also the same. So I do both of those things before I go anyplace else which is why you don’t see me on the social sites first thing in the morning. I don’t watch the news and I don’t pay attention to any of those pages either. I haven’t in years so I guess I’ll just miss all the news.

So I’ll probably stick with my particular routine because it works really well for me. Yep, my mind is already filled with positive thoughts before I’m even ready to go to work! 😉

    Have a beautiful day!

    ~Adrienne

  38. Kumar- I like the way you write so it easy to understand. I keep my window open to my website which is distracting because I can always find things I need to update. I am not talking about my blog site, but my main website. I have two screens so I need to limit my distractions. At this point I am all over the place. I was even thinking about getting a third screen but I now think it maybe too many distractions. Enjoy your week

  39. Hi Kumar,
I love that you mention that we need to start the day feeling empowered. That is an absolute necessity and you hit the nail on the head as far as importance for me.

I have 6 messages scheduled into my iPhone. At various times during the day I send myself inspirational message. 3 are thanking God for the day (a reminder since the day sometimes gets away from us before we know it and we forget to simply say Thank you). An another affirmation 3 times during the day regarding the success of my business. This is how I keep myself inspired. These 6 are scheduled throughout the day. It helps keep me on the right track.

If we don’t feel inspired when we start our day, it’s hard to pick up in the latter part of the day. At least that’s what I find. Thank you for this inspirational message to help us get started.

    God bless,
    Barbara

  45. Hello Kumar

It is nice to start your day with your startup page.
I use Chrome and I am a person who is totally out of settings and stuff.
I tried a lot after reading this post to find “options” in “tools” of Chrome but due to my lack of knowledge I could not help it.
In my case , I feel some pictures could have helped me.
But I will get help from someone to do this thing for me.
    Thank you for information.

    • Hi Andleeb,

Sorry to hear that you still aren’t able to set it up. I am sure somebody around you should be able to help you get this done. If not, let me know and I can probably do a Google Hangout with you and show you how to do it.
