Over the years, I’ve helped many people in building their personal brand online. Yet, I’ve also met those who don’t believe in personal branding online though they do work very hard to build and maintain their brand value in traditional ways.
Working with people from various walks of life and helping them leverage the power of the internet and social media, has been a tremendous experience. The process of personal branding is a lot of fun and also challenging at times. It is fun because it is not just very engaging but also very rewarding when you do it right. But, it becomes a challenge when the process is broken.

Ask any young kid about what they would like to be when they grow up. It's amazing to know how almost all of them will tell you about their dream of becoming top athlete, top cricketer, doctor, engineer, top spy, astronaut etc. At the same time, you will find almost none of them who will tell you that they would like to be average at anything when they grow up.
Did you know that there are more than 400 million tweets sent per day on Twitter? Did you know that there are more than 699 million active Facebook users every day? This list only grows when we start including other growing social networking sites such as Google+, Pinterest, Instagram and so on.
These stats only mean that the freedom, the ability to have your own platform where you can say things you like to say, has made social media so popular. The number of people adapting to social media, and at the speed of growth, is simply astounding.
Like anything else, this has given birth to two school of thoughts when it comes to social media:
Haters
Lovers
But wait, there is a third group as well. This belongs to those who use every opportunity to speak against it but can’t stay away from it.
Know What You Can And Can’t Do Online
Social media is the new media. It is here to stay, whether or not you and me like it. This is the way we are going to communicate and stay in touch with the world. Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life. ~Wayne Dyer [tweet this]
First of all, not many of us have those kind of choices. Most of us are told what we will do when we grow up right from our childhood. If you can’t become both, then you are not worth anything of significance.
However, the internet has made a significant changes in the way we learn things today. Information is flowing more quickly today than ever and that is affecting thought processes worldwide. This means that popular career advice in America is also quickly taking over the world.
