I had a meeting with one of my prospective clients for their social media marketing needs a couple of days ago. The gentleman I met, works with one of the top network marketing companies in the U.S. He asked, "Why do I need to spend my time and money on social media when the company I represent is rocking so much?"

That is a common question I still see people have across industries and career levels. There are a lot of people who think Social Media is a waste of time and it is used by people who are not focused on their goals. If you don’t know what Klout is, you should probably spend 15 minutes of your time to learn about it. I wondered about this for sometime and I am here to share with you what I learnt when I researched as to why and how much does it matter today.

If you have a Twitter account, you already have a Klout score whether or not you’re aware of it. If you are on Social Networking websites, you have a Klout score already though you may not know. I tend to think it is worth finding out anyway.

When it comes to networking, I go by the principle, "Treat everybody as genuine until they prove themselves to be otherwise." Therefore, I generally accept all connection requests and disconnect or ban people later if I realize it wasn't a good decision.
