The superstar motivational speaker and personal development legend, Zig Ziglar passed away on November 28^th, 2012 at age 86. The sad news came along with this quote from him that has been a driving force in my life:

He was known for his clever way with words that inspired millions of people around the world to stop looking for shortcuts to success; and instead, earn it the old-fashioned way by rolling up their sleeves and getting to work.

His book, See You at the Top: 25th Anniversary Edition has been my all-time favorite. The incredible life lessons he shared in this book have inspired people from all walks of life around the world to take charge and make a difference in their lives.

I have two little boys and sometimes when they discuss about money, it’s fun to see the way they have a naturally abundance mindset. There is nothing they can’t afford. The big planes, the big cars, millions of dollars in their piggy bank to buy such things…. There is absolutely no limit on what they can buy.

We all had that abundance within us. But as we started to grow up, our self-image started to decrease along the way. Through the years of education, we start to believe that those cars, those big houses are not attainable in this lifetime and then, excuses take place of those dreams.

I had a great time reading some of the amusing tales from a story book about the famous Akbar and Birbal last week. One of the stories that caught my attention was about a dream that emperor Akbar had one night about losing his teeth and what happened after that. Let me share the story here.

By the way, if you are new to Akbar and Birbal tales, here is a quick introduction according to Wikipedia:

Birbal was the (Wazir-e Azam) of the Mughal court in the administration of the Mughal emperor Akbar. He was one of his most trusted members along with being a part of Akbar's inner council of nine advisors, known as the Navaratna, a Sanskrit word meaning nine jewels. Birbal's duties in Akbar's court were mostly military and administrative, but he was also a very close friend of the emperor, who appreciated Birbal for his wit and wisdom, often involving humorous exchanges.

A few years ago when I was exposed to the network marketing business industry, I got two sets of information almost at the same time from two different sources. Interestingly, they were also just opposite to each other.

The set of people who showed me the business idea, were very positive and passionate about it. They were highly educated people with high profile professional careers. In short, they had what I wanted to have in terms of money, education and success professionally speaking. They shared why they chose network marketing and showed me why it was a good idea for me to give it a serious consideration.

The other set of people were my colleagues and a few friends who were around the same level in their careers as myself. I started to get their inputs when I asked them of their opinion of this business idea (As I always did before doing anything new). Many of them were aware of this industry and yet they were not participating because they believed it wasn't a good idea.

Living like that is very stressful way of living. It becomes hard to be productive at work and enjoy the family time while at home (and if you relate to this situation, you will agree). Naturally, a stressed mind can’t be effective at anything and if soon we do not make some changes, it drains our motivation, gives fatigue and in some case, it may cause some relationship troubles as well.
