I have not written about leadership for a while on this blog and I thought I need to talk about the relationship between confidence and success in this post.
Somebody I am coaching to set up a business shared a concern that triggered this post today. It’s very common and one of the things I struggled with in the beginning as well.
Being effective means being able to manage our time in a productive manner and achieving productive activities. Going by that understanding, social media is usually considered as a time waster.
One of the biggest challenges for small business owners is to quantify the return on investment, this includes social media activities.
It is even harder for those with decent success in their business without using social media to even comprehend any productive use of social media.
There seems to always be confusion about using Facebook Page vs Facebook Profile for business. For a small business owner or a solo entrepreneur, it is a bit confusing to go one or the other way.
When I started to use Facebook back in the days, I didn’t have any business online. My profile on Facebook was to be in touch with friends and family. It was actually the cool new place where all my Orkut friends were migrating.
Owning your own business is definitely the most preferable course of action everyone wants to take as soon as possible. Entrepreneurship is definitely more glorified in our society today than ever, and for good reasons.
Statistically speaking, there are about half a million new businesses started each month in the United States alone. Check out the details on these statics by Business Insider here. This number, of course, includes startups across all industries.
However, isn’t it another interesting fact that 7 out of 10 businesses shut down in their first new years of operation?
Now, I don’t know about you but I have seen more people than I can count in just the last 2-3 years who started a business (all kinds of businesses) and they didn’t last very long.
Personal Branding is not a term most probably you are unaware of anymore. Chances are, you are already working hard to build your brand identity in the marketplace.
I thought of writing about this again today because I see a lot of people doing too many things going in all directions in an effort to build a personal brand probably because they still don’t understand what it really means.

We all need some tools and services to organize and manage things in our lives. I get questions about some of the resources I use and so, I decided that I should probably share this list with you.
A list like this is never static and I know I will update this list many times as I live my life and experience more changes.
But, I am eager to document here some of the important tools, products and services I use in my personal and professional life. This list is not just for your reference, but my own reference document for future as well.
I intend to share the entries in the list in the order of their importance within their category from my perspective. The idea is to give you an idea of importance although it’s not a rule to follow.
Have you noticed how many people are starting their own businesses every day? The numbers are mind- blowing and obviously that’s because the idea of owning a business is very fascinating as well.
Entrepreneurship is the best thing that can happen to you and I can tell you from my personal experience. It is a way of life. Entrepreneurship is adventurous and it is the best way to succeed while serving other people in many ways.
I am an avid advocate of entrepreneurship and free enterprise myself. That is the reason I started blogging when I did so I could not just brand my business online but also help other people do the same for themselves.
Who doesn’t want to be successful in their endeavor? Every entrepreneur wants success and if you are like me, you also want it as of yesterday.
Since starting my journey of entrepreneurship, I have studied success stories of many extraordinary entrepreneurs (Rich Devos, Sam Walton, Steve Jobs etc.), successful sports personalities (John Wooden, Tom Landry etc.) and some extremely successful bloggers (Darren Rowse, Michael Hyatt, Neil Patel etc.) and learned tremendous motivation.
I have mentioned on several occasions that I continue to attend many success seminars and workshops regularly as I continue to learn and grow. Seminars and workshops are definitely my favorite because of the power of association which makes a huge difference in our mindset!
I have not met anybody who doesn’t want to start a business at some point in their life. And everyone who is in business, wants to become successful.
I have met a number of ultra-successful business leaders throughout my business career and there are about 6 important growth strategies they all take very seriously when it comes to their business. I believe anybody, who pays close attention to these business lessons, can become extremely successful.
If it wasn’t for the fear of rejection, most people would love to be in business for themselves. It is the fear of rejection that stops many people from even starting their own business, while many others give up early on when they are faced with a few rejections.
Even though I have been pretty confident (my mother thought I was overconfident) from my childhood, I have been intimidated by rejections very much in the early days of my career as an entrepreneur. It was unacceptable to me that somebody would actually reject my offer.
In fact, it was because of the fear of rejection that I never went for ‘Walk-In’ job interviews. I never applied for a job by myself. I uploaded my resumes on job websites and waited for the calls to come. To my serendipity, I did receive interview calls and I always (I mean always) got selected.
